We’ve fixed a few issues that were making “Tumblr crushes” less fun than they should be:

1) ~~Once you’ve liked a few hundred posts, your Crushes rarely change.~~

Now they’re pulled from your recent activity, so you can see where your love is going right this second.

2) ~~Crushes only count Likes, and don’t factor in Reblogs.~~

Now they include both!

3) ~~The total counts don’t give context to all the other blogs you follow.~~

The counts now show the percentage of your attention that you’re giving your crushes. (Out of everyone you Like and Reblog!)

4) ~~Calculating crushes kills our databases.~~

Crushes now run on an asynchronous queue that refreshes every 12 hours.

Um, I looked at my “crushes” and they in no way reflect the true picture of my Tumblr “crushes”. Basically, it seems it reflects your likes and reblogs over a very short period of time and if someone took a few days off from posting, and hence you didn’t give them any likes, they don’t show up at all. And the people that post a lot, obviously still have an automatic advantage over people who don’t post so much, so it still measures quantity, because you can’t assign a number to quality. So, I’m foregoing looking at them again or posting them. My Tumblr crushes can’t be assessed by a mathematical equation, the info resides in my head. :)

yep, exactly - calculation window is way too fucking short. the people in my crushes? all people i’m either not following, or started following yesterday.

Best Roof Talk Ever: Tumblr Tricks, vol. 1

The link above outlines a lot of “Tumblr Tricks” that are relatively useful, however several of them are far more complicated than they need to be… Below are some easier versions.

Album artwork: the post claims than you cannot drag and drop artwork into the “add album artwork” box in iTunes, but rather need to right-click, get info, artwork, etc… this is not true. I just dragged and dropped artwork into iTunes to a previously blank file here and it worked.

Insert an expandable image, instead of a grey box: the long process outlined in the link involves finding, cutting, and pasting HTML… however, all you really need to do after uploading the image in a text post is copy and paste the image itself. Click the uploaded image; once it’s highlighted copy it; paste into other post. No HTML skills needed.

Reblog yourself: again, to avoid the mess of HTML source codes just use this URL instead: http://tmv.proto.jp/reblog.php?post_url=[URL OF DESIRED REBLOG]

Include comma in tag: you can, indeed, type a full phrase and then go back and add commas as stated… or just type it w/ commas anywhere else and cut and paste.

instead of using the tree icon, up above the editor there’s an “upload a photo” button. use that instead:
