Rephlex just reissued the entire Analord series (previously only on vinyl) in uncompressed digital form, with 20 new tracks. It’s like having a new Aphex Twin album. Kind of.
Cool, although why it has to be on the seizure inducing text-decoration:blink; Rephlex store rather than Bleep, I don’t know. This collection has perpetually annoyed me. The released the individual Analords on vinyl when I had no record player, and then released the compilation on CD-only when I’d gotten a record player.
“Walls of translucent white jelly-beings undulating around an unseen cameraman who we must assume never stops screaming. Vertically hovering whales gesturing a fin toward beams of light somehow shining up from the deep. And everywhere fish, terrible fish — they breathe liquid, they never blink. Accompanied by one or the other of the Aphex Twin discs, glacial swells and pulsings of evilly hushed machine-born flesh-creep music.”
Scott David Herman listens to Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 while watching Planet Earth on mute. I’m hard-pressed to think of something more up my alley than this. (via fireland)
must try this.
Added to the Life List.

Aphex Twin - Milkman
I was looking for Girl/Boy song, after that Mastodon comic (it’s the song in the intro, h/t exspectator), but my MP3’s of Richard D. James Album are a mishmash of numerical filenames, thanks to the early days of Bleep. This is one of the first songs that introduced me to Aphex Twin, and it’s lovely. It’s a lilttle NSFW if you’re using speakers.

You’re an idiot if you don’t like Aphex Twin.
