I’m thinking beers would be pretty easy to organize, and there’s no reason why I shouldn’t know all of the Austin tumblrs I read every day. Let me know if you’re interested, we should make this happen.

that’s a little too short of notice for me, but I’m reblogging for other, more flexible Austinites.

Photo: trawlingthegrey: Day 35: Austin, TX- We’re playing Emo’s for the first time in ages, and I’d forgotten how swampy it gets underneath the outdoor roof here. It’s gonna be a wet one tonight. I also had a quality haircut experience at The Good Life Barber Shop on 5th. One of the best I’ve ever had. I’d recommend it to locals and people (like me) that are just passing through. nice shot! I’ve yet to go anywhere other than Bird’s for a haircut (owing to their listing “mohawk” in their pricing schedule) - but their wait is getting to be a bit long. I’ll be there in a few hours!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to champagnelikealady for directing me to ATXBS!

Now who else has good information about this supposedly grand city?

What is the public transportation system like?

What are the odds of me getting a fake UT id?

Being poor and vegan: what grocery stores/co-ops/farmers markets are best for me?

Good piercers/tattoo artists? Tell!

All-ages venues?

Anyone want to be friends when I get there?

public transportation is meh.  I take the bus, but it’s a half hour between busses.  It’s almost always faster to bike.

vegan gro-sto’s: sun harvest and central market down south, wheatsville co-op up north.  there’s a couple of farmer’s markets, I usually go to the one downtown on sunday mornings.  for raw/vegan restaurants, you’re mostly looking at Casa De Luz, but pretty much everywhere has something vegan (and clearly marked) on the menu.

I know people who worship Rock of Ages for tattoos, but I don’t get it.  I’ve yet to find a really good artist down here.

Red 7 is usually all ages for one of their shows (the early inside ones) - but I’m too old to pay much attention to all ages vs. 21+.

and yeah, we have pretty regular “meetups” - aka drinking with friends.  I’m sure we’ll have some that are all ages.
